Tonight is an important game for both the Colorado Rapids (11-3-8) and LA Galaxy (9-3-10). Both teams are fighting for the top of the standings, with the Rapids in second place behind Dallas FC, and LA tied with Real Salt Lake for third. The Rapids are coming off a great win at home vs. Vancouver last weekend, while LA tied the New York Red Bulls last weekend. LA Galaxy also lost to Dallas FC in the Open Cup on Wednesday, but only played a couple of their starters, so we can expect a fully rested LA side tonight.
Looks like Pablo Mastroeni is going with the same starting lineup as last week, with Shkëlzen Gashi at the 10 spot again and Dillon Powers at the pivot with Sam Cronin. Michael Azira is back, but is on the bench and Jermaine Jones is still no where to be found. I’ll be interested to see if Sébastien Le Toux gets a little more playing time tonight, since he’s now been with the team a little longer, and Los Angeles is at sea level.
LA Galaxy is without Robbie Keane, one of their top goal scorers, but Giovani dos Santos is back in their starting lineup.
COLORADO RAPIDS STARTING XI:
Tim Howard, Marc Burch, Axel Sjöberg, Bobby Burling, Eric Miller, Dillon Powers, Sam Cronin, Dominique Badji, Shkëlzen Gashi, Marlon Hairston, Kevin Doyle
BENCH: Michael Azira, Dennis Castillo, Sébastien Le Toux, Zac MacMath, Marco Pappa, Jared Watts, Mekeil Williams.
