Colorado Rapids MatchDay: Starting XI and Game Thread

Here we go! Post your agony and ecstasy in the comments...

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

After two 0-0 draws, the Colorado Rapids were initially bringing out the A Squad for tonight's game vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC, but Jermaine Jones was pulled about 30 minutes before game time. There have been some key injuries off and on this whole season, and now that international play is over, almost everyone is back (heal quickly Bobby Burling and Dillon Serna!) and it seemed that we were finally going to see Jermaine Jones, Marco Pappa, Shkëlzen Gashi, and Kevin Doyle all on the pitch AT THE SAME TIME. But sadly, that last minute scratch put in Dillon Powers instead of Jones (who apparently has a "lower leg issue"), so hopefully all is well with him.

HOWEVER, why Pablo Mastroeni wouldn't move Pappa to the #10 and start speedy Marlon Hairston on the right side is beyond me.

The Rapids could really use a win tonight, too. The Burgundy Boys haven't scored in more than 180 minutes, and Dallas FC jumped further ahead in the rankings after beating San Jose Earthquakes last night. With Sporting KC and Dallas coming to town over the next two weeks, this is an important game for the Rapids.

Here is your Burgundy Starting XI:

Tim Howard; Axel Sjöberg, Jared Watts, Mekeil Williams, Eric Miller; Michael Azira, Sam Cronin; Shkëlzen Gashi, Dillon Powers, Marco Pappa; Kevin Doyle.

And the Vancouver Whitecaps:

Patrick Ousted; Jordan Smith, Kendall Waston, Tim Parker, Jordan Harvey; Andrew Jacobson, Matias Laba; Christian Bolaños, Pedro Morales, Kekuta Manneh; Blas Perez
