More traffic on game day. A consistently filled stadium. New Rapids fans. Veteran leadership on the field. An MLS Save of the Week nomination for his effort in Vancouver. Five saves that kept us in the game against FC Dallas last weekend (and another MLS Save of the Week nomination).
If, after all that, you need further proof of the impact that Tim Howard has made by joining the Colorado Rapids, listen carefully next time you get on the train heading to the terminal at Denver International Airport. While we are used to hearing the voices of Denver Broncos stars like Peyton Manning and Demaryius Thomas, now it’s the voice of Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard welcoming visitors to the Mile High City.
“Welcome to Denver,” he says. “This is Tim Howard, of the U.S. Men’s National Soccer team, and the new goalkeeper for your Colorado Rapids Soccer Club. I am proud to now call Colorado home. There is no better combination than soccer and summer in the great Colorado sunshine. Let’s go Rapids!”
If you haven’t been to the airport recently, listen to the audio here.
