Both teams faced each other in a US Open Cup match at Toyota Stadium in a result that saw FC Dallas victorious. The Rapids are currently on a 14-game unbeaten run in the league and also have a few games in hand over FC Dallas.

The Rapids will have to look to contain Fabian Castillo and Mauro Diaz who have both been outstanding for Dallas this season. Jermaine Jones is questionable as the United States international is suffering from a knee injury. It is hard to tell if Jones will feature in the 2016 MLS All-Star Game in San Jose against Arsenal next week.
