The Colorado Rapids will face Western Conference leaders FC Dallas for the first time in the regular season on Saturday evening. Both teams faced each other in a US Open Cup match at Toyota Stadium in a result that saw FC Dallas victorious. The Rapids are currently on a 14-game unbeaten run in the league and also have a few games in hand over FC Dallas.

Colorado (10-2-7, 37 points) have just about secured mathematical safety from relegation with the magic point total of 40 are looking to stay unbeaten at home during 2016. The Rocky Mountain side are coming off a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City at home on the weekend. Marlon Hairston was the hero with a magnificent game-winning curling effort while Tim Howard secured his second shutout in three games for the Rapids.

FC Dallas (12-6-4, 40 points) are coming off a slim 1-0 victory over rivals Houston Dynamo in the US Open Cup on Wednesday evening at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. It was rare recent road victory for the Hoops but one they will definitely take in one of the oldest soccer tournaments in the world. On the weekend, FC Dallas won 3-1 over Chicago Fire.

The Rapids will have to look to contain Fabian Castillo and Mauro Diaz who have both been outstanding for Dallas this season. Jermaine Jones is questionable as the United States international is suffering from a knee injury. It is hard to tell if Jones will feature in the 2016 MLS All-Star Game in San Jose against Arsenal next week.
