The Charlotte Independence make their second trip of the 2016 season to Melbourne, Florida to take on Orlando City B in an USL Eastern Conference clash that is very important to both teams. Charlotte looks like they rebounded after their May to June wobble and now sit fifth in the Eastern Conference table. OCSCB is in seventh and will look to capitalize on their home fans pushing them to victory
The Goal for Charlotte: A Road Result
The Teams
Charlotte Independence--Charlotte is coming off an impressive 3-1 road victory over Harrisburg City Islanders which notched their second win in a row. With the victory, Charlotte ran their record to 7-4-3 (24 points, 1.71 PPG) with a GD of +5. They are tied for third fewest goals allowed in the Eastern Conference. They are led by Colorado Rapids striker Caleb Calvert (4 G, 1A), Jorge Herrera (4G, 2A) and Enzo Martinez (4G, 2A) and also feature Zach Pfeffer and John Berner on the squad.
Orlando City B--the USL expansion team is the model of middle of the road. They are 6-6-3 (21 points, 1.4 PPG) and feature a -2 GD. They certainly score more goals than the Independence but they also give up more--10 goals more than the Independence this season. So they can be scored upon. But with the goals surrendered, they also score at a fair clip and are the more offensive of the two teams today.
