The Colorado Rapids will look to continue their unbeaten run as they welcome Sporting Kansas City to Dick's Sporting Goods Park for the second time this season. Rapids Goalkeeper Tim Howard will look to get his first win with the team as the past two matches have ended in draws. Colorado has a chance to equal the point total of FC Dallas after the Texan side lost 5-0 to Seattle on Wednesday evening.
Colorado (9-2-7, 34 points) dramatically tied Vancouver Whitecaps 2-2 on the weekend. Axel Sjoberg scored in stoppage time to rescue a precious point as the Rapids were about to lose just their third game of the season. The Whitecaps were punished for pushing for another goal after Jared Watts was adjudged to have committed a foul in the penalty area late in the game. Kevin Doyle scored and had the late tying assist to Sjoberg in a game that also saw defender Eric Miller shown a straight red card.
Sporting KC (8-9-4, 28 points) have won three of their last five games. However, they lost to Chicago Fire on Wednesday night by a scoreline of 1-0. In each of their past four outings, the Rapids have defeated Sporting Kansas City each time. Sporting midfielder Graham Zusi is questionable for this game with a hamstring strain.
The Rapids are unbeaten at home so far this season, and Saturday could see the team have Kevin Doyle, Marco Pappa, Jermaine Jones and Shkelzen Gashi in the same attacking lineup. Also, Colorado defenders Bobby Burling and Sean St. Ledger were back in full training this past week.
