Major League Soccer leading Colorado Rapids announced two roster moves today as Goalkeeper Chris Froschauer and midfielder Emmanuel Appiah were waived.
From the Rapids announcement:
"On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Emmanuel and Chris for their service and wish them well in their future soccer careers," said Paul Bravo, VP of Soccer Operations and Technical Director.
These two moves are not a gigantic surprise as neither player had featured for the Rapids this season with Froschauer serving as the backup goalkeeper for all 16 MLS matches and 2 US Open Cup matches. With the addition of Tim Howard to the Burgundy Boys and John Berner on loan with Charlotte Independence, it did not make sense to carry four goalkeepers within the #OneClub.
Appiah was in the 18 once this season but did not see any field time with the Rapids. He also made two appearances for Charlotte Independence logging 24 minutes. He did not record a goal or an assist.
The Rapids are back in action this Monday against Portland Timbers at 7:00 PM MDT at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
