The Charlotte Independence take to the road tonight as they face off with Harrisburg City Islanders. Charlotte is coming off a much needed win over Richmond Kickers last weekend at Ramblewood and will be looking at extending that form and winning streak.
The Goal for Charlotte: get a road result
What to Watch For
1) The Form of Calvert: Caleb Calvert is having himself a pretty dang good season down in Charlotte. He has already received a call-up to the Colorado Rapids and has contributed 4 goals and 1 assist in just 11 games which makes him the Independence leader in goals scored. Calvert looks like he has the potential to get a serious look in Colorado and the time in Charlotte has absolutely done him good.
2) Is This Team Good? Honestly, I think so. But they are also maddeningly inconsistent. Look at their form guide:
LWLWWWWDDLDLW
So, I think they are good. They started 5-2-0 and are now 1-2-3 in their last six. But the funny thing about soccer in the United States is that you can have streaks like this and still qualify for playoffs. And in that respect, Charlotte is firmly in fifth place.
