It is a pretty amazing soccer weekend here in Colorado as we have been treated to:
Another Colorado Rapids win (they now have 31 points in 15 games)
The Copa America Centenario
The European Championships
But the game that I am truly looking forward to is the one at 2:30 this afternoon in Broomfield. It pits two of the finest amateur soccer clubs in Colorado as FC Denver and Harpo's FC battle for the Colorado Amateur Soccer League Spring Title.
So how did these two teams get here? It certainly wasn't easy as they endured a difficult regular season and then a 16 team playoff for the right to play for some silverware.
But who are these teams? FC Denver is the top adult amateur soccer club in the Denver area and has scores of awards and successes building teams of character and quality. And Harpo's? They are the team that is making other clubs in the area believe the impossible is possible.
The bottom line: these are two clubs with a rich history that deserve to be where they are and it is poised to be an excited and thrilling afternoon of soccer in Broomfield.
