A Burgundy Shade of May--What Does the Fifth Month Bring for the Rapids?

The third month of the MLS season is the fifth month of the calendar

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Admit it.

You did not see April coming.  Four wins.  A Loss.  And a tie.

Pretty darn amazing.

At 5-2-2, the Colorado Rapids are one of the surprises this young Major League Soccer season.

But are they for real?

May will tell us.  They have another tough group of games, but this team has surprised so far.  Nothing seems impossible in 2016.

Saturday--7 May 2016--vs Real Salt Lake

The biggest rivals of the Rapids come to town this Saturday and for the Rapids this is a big one.  When they played RSL in Sandy last month, they were undone by a defensive mistake and should have come away with at least a tie against the Claret and Cobalt.  And if the Rapids lose this weekend they lose the Rocky Mountain Cup.  This feels like a draw.

Wednesday--11 May 2016--vs Sporting Kansas City

Sporting has been in a bit of a rut, but I feel like they are one of the best teams in the league and they will be there when the playoffs are ready to start.  But the Rapids have won three in a row against Sporting and I feel like this is a match that they can win.  Rapids win

Saturday--14 May 2016--at Columbus Crew SC

The Crew have not had the best of starts to their campaign especially considering they were in the MLS Cup title game last season.  They have been improving, but this feels like a match that the Rapids can grind out a result.  It will not be pretty, but this is a Rapids draw.

Saturday--21 May 2016--at Seattle Sounders

The Rapids travel to Century Link Field to take on a Sounders team that has underachieved this season, but seems to be getting it together.  This is also the first match that the Rapids will have without Jermaine Jones.  This will mean a major test for the Burgundy Boys, but I think that Century Link will be a tough ask and this is the lone Rapids loss of May.

Saturday--28 May 2016--vs Philadelphia Union

The Rapids end the month of May with a match against the surprising Philadelphia Union.  The Union have started strong and CJ Sapong has been very solid for the men from the City of Brotherly Love (yes, I know they are not actually in Philly).  But it's Memorial Weekend and the Rapids will get the win in this one.

Based on my quick month that means a 2-1-2 record in May.

So what do you think Rapids fans?  Is 2-1-2 an accurate prediction for May?  Let us know in the comment sections or vote in the poll below!
