Western Conference Rivals Colorado Rapids and Sporting Kansas City get together tonight in Commerce City and for both teams this is a very important match. The Rapids will be looking to pick up their seventh win in 11 matches and Sporting will be looking to erase a slide that has seen them go 0-5-1 in their last six. Something has to give in this one.
The Goal for the Rapids: win again at home
What to Watch For
1) Defensive Prowess: what has been lost in this amazing run that the Rapids are on is how solid their defense has been. And it has been a rotating cast of characters as Eric Miller, Marc Burch, Bobby Burling, Axel Sjoberg, Mekeil Williams, and Marlon Hairston have all seen time along the back line over the last month. And they are giving up less than a goal a game. Not. Too. Shabby.
2) A Two Game Week: despite how Sporting has been playing, this is a tough week for the Rapids. They take on Sporting in a few hours and then they fly to Columbus on Friday to play Crew SC on Saturday. Squad rotation will be important as the Rapids will look to maximize points. Could we see more of Dillon Powers and Dillon Serna?
3) Is This Real: one of the questions that people keep asking is--are the Rapids for real? And you know what, I understand where that comes from. After two brutal years it really feels like this is real and the Rapids are serious about making the playoffs...and possibly hoisting a trophy.

Predicted Starting XI
I really don't see many changes to the Starting XI for the Rapids as why mess with what's working. Even though they have two games this week, I think the lineup stays consistent with the possibility of change for the Saturday match.
(4-2-3-1)--Zac MacMath, Marc Burch, Axel Sjoberg, Bobby Burling, Mekeil Williams, Sam Cronin, Micheal Azira, Shkelzen Gashi, Jermaine Jones, Luis Solignac, Kevin Doyle
