Community Ratings: Colorado Rapids at Montreal Impact, April 30, 2016

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rapids went north of the border today and tied the Montreal Impact 2–2. Not only do the Rapids get a tie on the road, they move top of the Supporters Shield in Major League Soccer.

The Rapids went down early when Didier Drogba score a free kick in the 9’. The rest of the half was a tight affair where the Rapids held on. Both teams went in at half time with the Impact leading 1–0.

That scoreline changed quickly in the second half. The Rapids equalized in the 47’ when Mekeil Williams crossed and Shkelzen Gashi used his knee to get the ball past Evan Bush. But that lead didn’t last long. Maxim Tissot sent a rebound through traffic and found the lower corner of the net.

The Rapids equalized on a free kick in the 73’. Gashi put in the free kick and the Impact defense was atrocious. Axel Sjoberg as able to get a touch on the ball back across the goal and Bobby Burling roofed it.

After a few good chances for the Impact, the match ground to a halt in stoppage time. Dillon Powers came on in the 90+3 minute and saw one-touch. That was the only sub for the Rapids.
