Saturday is just a bit better when you finish it with a W.
But when both teams in the #OneClub can find a way to win:
Perfection
The Colorado Rapids picked up their second win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Toronto FC, and the Charlotte Independence picked up their first win of the year in a 2-1 win over the visiting Harrisburg City Islanders.
The #OneClub Report:
1) That Winning Feeling: Charlotte Independence dropped a heartbreaker in week one (a 1-0 loss to Louisville City in second half stoppage time) and went down in this one 1-0 to Harrisburg City Islanders in the 3rd minute. It was a terrible start for Charlotte and there was nervousness that could be expected:
Charlotte is a bit nervous in front of goal. Settle it down lads. Take the shot. Don't rush
— Burgundy Wave (@Burgundywave) April 2, 2016
But a funny thing happen. Charlotte did settle down. They did not panic. They kept their composure and they were rewarded by a solid 87 minutes of defensive work and their first W of the year
2) Caleb Calvert: The Colorado Rapids loanee made his second consecutive start and the faith of the Independence coaching staff was rewarded as Calvert nailed the goal that tied it up:
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!! Caleb Calvert with the goal for @CLTIndependence Get In!! @ColoradoRapids #OneClub. 1-1 in CLT
— Burgundy Wave (@Burgundywave) April 2, 2016
I don't know if Calvert will ever get a shot in Colorado, but scoring goals will certainly help his cause.
3) That Winning Feeling (Part Two): With the win in Commerce City on Saturday night, the Rapids are 2-1-1 (7 points) on the year and with their win, the Independence go to 1-1-0 (3 points) for 2016. It's way too early to predict how things will end, but I will take both teams of the #OneClub picking up big home wins as they look to both make the playoffs in 2016.
The Rapids take to the road on Saturday against Real Salt Lake at 7:30 PM MT and that match will be shown on Altitude Sports. The Independence travel to take on FC Cincinnati at 5PM MT and that game will be streamed live via YouTube.
