#OneClub Report: Winning All Around

Another winning weekend for the #OneClub

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

It was a terrific weekend of soccer for the #OneClub as both the Colorado Rapids and Charlotte Independence picked up big victories to keep momentum going and continue their respective marches up the table.

The #OneClub Report

1)  Late Drama at Ramblewood--the Charlotte Independence had a hard fought battle against Richmond Kickers on Friday night as they had a 2-1 lead over the Kickers until the 89th minute when Richmond looked like they had secured a share of the points.  But deep into extra time, Jun Marques Davidson was fouled in the penalty box and the Jorge Hererra buried the spot kick giving Charlotte the win.

With the W, the Independence are now third in the Eastern Conference at 3-2-0 (9 Points).

2)  Rapids on Loan--Caleb Calvert started for Charlotte and picked up a goal on 4 shots (2 on target) in 86 m.  The Rapids forward now has two goals on the season in 418 total minutes.  Emmanuel Appiah and John Berner did not play in this one.

3)  Three in a Row--The Rapids have now won three in a row and are second in the overall table, just a point behind FC Dallas.  Could the Rapids be having a special season?  At 5-2-1 (16 points) they have to be considered a true threat in the Western Conference.

The Rapids travel to Quebec to take on Montreal Impact on Saturday at 2PM MDT and the match can be viewed on Altitude Sports.  The Independence take on New York Red Bulls II next Sunday at 2PM MDT and that match will be streamed on YouTube.
