Charlotte Independence vs Charleston Battery: How to Watch, Live Stream and More

The Independence will be looking to get back to their winning ways as they return to home to face Charleston.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Charlotte Independence come home to the cozy confines of Ramblewood Soccer Complex as they take on Charleston Battery in an Eastern Conference clash.  Charlotte dropped a tough 2-1 loss on the road last week and will be looking to rebound in front of their home fans.

The Goal for Charlotte:  win at home

What to Watch For

1)  MLS Not Coming to the CLT: Our friends at Crown Town Soccer had this terrific piece about the possibility of Major League Soccer coming to Charlotte.  It is a great article and worth a read.  I don't know what the ultimate plan is for expansion in Major League Soccer.   And I think MLS would be making a mistake by not having a team in North Carolina, and more specifically Charlotte.  But looking at where MLS is looking to expand (Sacramento, Saint Louis, Detroit, etc) those are places that have pretty rapid fan bases.  I'm not saying Charlotte can't get there, but right now they are not.  Whether it is location of the stadium or some other factor, the crowds are not significant enough in Charlotte to get on the radar of MLS for expansion.

2)  That Charleston Defense and that Charlotte Offense: Charleston is 2-0-1 (7 points) this season and has surrendered just one goal.  In three games.  Comparing that with a Charlotte defense that has given up four goals, this could be a long night for the Independence.  Charlotte is averaging a goal a game and it seems like a difficult ask for them to score more then one goal against a resolute Charleston D.  So the question comes down to: can Charlotte stop them from scoring?
