Colorado Rapids Sign Emmanuel Appiah

This is the second Draft Pick to Sign today

Robert Duyos-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rapids have had a pretty darn busy Friday as they announced their second MLS SuperDraft pick signing of the day.  Midfielder Emmanuel Appiah has put pen to paper on a contract and joins the Burgundy Boys as they look at returning to the playoffs in 2016.

From Paul Bravo, Technical Director and Vice President of Soccer Operations:

"Emmanuel has impressed in preseason and earned the chance to take his first steps in the professional game"

Appiah joins a fairly crowded midfield that includes veterans Sam Cronin, Dillon Powers, and Dillon Serna but now also includes newcomers Marco Pappa, Shkelzen Gashi and Micheal Azira.  Playing time may be tough for Appiah, but he impressed enough to make the team.

The question should be asked if he is a prime candidate to go to Charlotte Independence.  Appiah looks to be a player that will need playing time, and Charlotte may be a place that could be a good fit.  Or does he make the 70 mile trek south and join Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC?

Time will tell for Appiah, but for now, welcome to the team!
