It was ugly. Don't kid yourself.

The Colorado Rapids and D.C. United met for the only time in 2016 at a cold RFK Stadium in Washington DC and although it was not a pretty match it was a match where the Rapids could have had three points but had to settle for  a draw.

The first half was a pretty back and forth affair, but possession was in the favor of DCU but the best change came to Kevin Doyle.  He was on his ass and some how managed to get a blast at goal that manged to hit the post.  But overall the half was mostly meh.

The second half was much better as a game and from the Rapids.  The Rapids took the lead in the 69th minute from a goal by Dillon Powers off a corner from Marco Pappa.  Things looked great for the Rapids until an 80th minute howler from Zac MacMath that gifted United a goal.  MacMath let a ball go through his hands and eventually it fell to Fabian Espindola who slotted it home.  A bad moment from MacMath on the day the Rapids announced the acquisition of Tim Howard certainly makes the Rapids look smart about their goalkeeping situation.

At the end of the day, the Rapids get a road draw and now sit 1-1-1 (4 points) on the year.
