Are The Colorado Rapids Onto Something?

Thank You To The Front Office

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

First off I have to say last weekend was absolutely amazing. What a great feeling it was at DSGP. The entire place erupted and Shkelzen Gashi is now even in trouble for being so excited. I had been on a two week trip from Denver to Uganda and was flying in on game day, two hours before the start of the match. Exhausted and sick I still NEEDED to see this team, a feeling I haven't had in a long time. The Rapids over the years have always generated a feeling of anger and disappointment, you could feel it at the stadium, on this site, and with the players. To be honest the last two years I have watched the home opener from home on the couch. I had always sold my tickets, or given them to friends, but not this year.

Now I'm not going to go into every offseason move the front office has made, but I can say that this is the best Colorado Rapids team we have ever had on paper. For that, the front office deserves a huge thank you. Its also in no way too early to say thanks either. 1-1-0 to start but for me I already have so much hope for this season and for the first time maybe EVER in recent times, pretty confident. An article was posted on Burgundy Wave earlier asking if the front office is off the hook. For me they most definitely are. There is only so much they can do, and when it comes down to it, the players need to perform on match day.

I think the only room for criticism right now can be with Pablo Mastroeni and I think he has shown a ton of guts coming out saying that he needs to improve as a coach, and I guess this might be the most anticipated move from the front office that we will have to wait and see what happens.

I have heard only a few ideas or opinions on how long the front office should wait if we are struggling this season to fire Pablo, and I would love to see what the collective idea is. Personally I think it will have to be a mid season analysis, and if this team has consistently performed well, he should stay.

So, what do you think? How long can the Rapids wait this season to make a move if we start to struggle?

I really hope Kevin Doyle starts to become a factor in upcoming games, he's wearing the band so he needs to step it up.

Also, C38 and supporters, where is the Ugandan flag at the park?! Micheal Azira is an amazing story and in my time in Uganda I wore my Rapids shirt and was approached and asked about Azira. Pretty amazing to have fans all over the world.
