The Colorado Rapids have had a pretty good weekend overall. They really did. See:
1) A near capacity crowd of 17,474
2) A Solid 1-0 victory over the star studded LA Galaxy
3) As part of the 1-0 victory, there was that whole clean sheet thing against the LA Galaxy
4) And we had a player named to the MLS Team of the Week
That's right! Mekeil Williams was named to the Major League Soccer team of the week for his solid performance against the Galaxy. Per MLS Soccer Williams had:
5 interceptions, 3 tackles, 2 clearances
Not too shabby for his first appearance in Major League Soccer in front of the home faithful. I was impressed with his defensive prowess and his willingness to get involved in the attack (something missing in 2015). There are reasons that the Rapids signed on Williams and in his first start it looks like he repaid their faith.
All of us here wish Mekeil congrats on this honor!
