The Colorado Rapids have had a pretty active off-season with a number of additions and being linked to a number of big players. Well they are being linked with another big name in Javier "Chuletita" Orozco. From mlsmultiplex.com:
Rumors are brewing that Javier "Chuletita" Orozco may want to swap sides of the border and come to MLS. As one of the leading scorers in Liga MX history Orozco would be a nice acquisition for whichever team were to acquire him in the transfer market.
The first team that comes to mind are the Colorado Rapids. With two open international slots the Rapids wouldn't have to make space for Orozco and with their draft day trades Colorado has the money to afford a big name signing. They also need anything they can get to excite their fan base. Orozco would slot directly into the starting XI and give Colorado an instant threat at goal.
So is the sort of move that would make sense for the Rapids? And again, this is just a rumor so don't put too much stock in it...
But the dude can score goals. He has scored 86 times in Liga MX for Cruz Azul and Santos. And he is a capped Mexican National Team Player.
The Rapids need a goal scorer.
The Rapids need a player who could put butts in the seats
Orozco could be that player. And he is only 28.
And the Rapids did make a trade to acquire more Target Allocation Money and an International Roster Spot today.
I know it's just a rumor, but it is always fun to dream and imagine.
