If reports out of the UK are to believed, and please take this with the appropriate grain of salt, Colorado Rapids target Tim Howard wants nearly $20 Million to join the Rapids over the course of a four year deal.
From the Sun UK:
TIM HOWARD wants a four-year deal worth more than £14MILLION to join Colorado Rapids.
The United States number one has shocked Rapids officials with the size and length of his demands.
Colorado want the USA No 1 as a marquee signing and have been to England for talks with him and Goodison chiefs.
A couple of thoughts:
1) This is the Sun, so take it with a grain of salt.
2) The Pound-Dollar conversion makes this a $19,810,000 deal for the life of the contract and that would be far and away the most in team history
3) That is a hell of a lot of money for a goalkeeper of any stature.
If this is to be believed, and this is a big if, that is way too much for a goalkeeper. Yes, Howard is a great goalkeeper and all, but that is just too much. Getting Howard in Colorado would be a great coup for the team, but that is not their greatest area of need. And nearly 20 million is a tough pill to swallow.
Rapids, if this is true....run away. Run away fast.
