Game Recaps: Sacramento Republic FC 0:1 Colorado Rapids

New, 3 comments

The Rapids flew to Sacramento to play Republic FC and, well, it was a preseason match.

The Colorado Rapids traveled to Bonney Field on the ground at Cal Expo in Sacramento, California to take on Sacramento Republic FC in a preseason friendly.  If you were looking for spectacular soccer, this was not your match as both teams struggled to anything resembling soccer.

The Rapids had some chances in the first half, but ultimately could not pressure the Republic net in the first half and did not force Sacramento into a save in the first 45.

The second half was more lively for sure, as the Rapids and Republic generated more chances, but overall it was a drab affair.  The Rapids had a number of opportunities, but were always a hair off in either their delivery or their finish was a bit off.  AJ Cochran scored the game winner for the Rapids and although the win felt great, there was certainly a feeling of missed opportunities for the Rapids.

The Rapids travel to Tucson, Arizona for the Desert Diamond Cup next week for the continuation of preseason.
