Sacramento Republic FC vs Colorado Rapids: How to Watch, TV Information and More

The Rapids play their first official preseason game today in Sacramento, California

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rapids take on Sacramento Republic FC in the first "official" preseason match tonight at Bonney Field in Sacramento, California.  It will provide the first big test of the preseason for the Rapids and will give supporters a good opportunity to see how far the Rapids have progressed in their rebuilding effort.

The Goal for the Rapids:  Continue to build team chemistry, regardless of result

What to Watch For:

1)  Goals, Goals, Goals: the Rapids have scored six goals in their first two practice matches this preseason with Kevin Doyle and Caleb Calvert leading the charge.  Preseason does not mean much in terms of long term success for the team, but getting the forward line off and running is important for the Rapids.  If Doyle and crew can get going, this could bode well for the regular season.

2)  It's all about Chemistry: for the Rapids to have success this season, they have to be a unified team and play as a team.  At times last year, and I am not sure if this is a function of the players or the manager, it seemed like they were not cohesive unit.  If nothing else happens in the preseason, I want to see this.

3)  Will Gashi debut: let's be honest here--we want to see new Designated Player Shkelzen Gashi take the pitch and see if he is as good as advertised.   Not sure if he plays or not, but it would be fun.

Predicted Starting XI:

Honestly, this is truly a guess, but I am go out on a crazy limb and say Pablo goes with a 4-1-3-2 (I know, I am nuts)

Zac MacMath, Mikeil Williams, Sean St. Ledger, Axel Sjoberg, Marlon Hairston, Sam Cronin, Dillon Serna, Dillon Powers, Zach Pfeffer, Conor Doyle, Kevin Doyle

Regardless of who starts the game, I think we see a completely different Starting XI in the second half.
