Despite failing to put a single shot on target, with only 3 total shots, the Seattle Sounders won the MLS Cup on Penalty Kicks last night. After a 0-0 draw over the course of 90 minutes, neither team could find a goal in extra time either. But it took a sensational Stefan Frei save on Jozy Altidore to keep it that way.
In penalty kicks, Seattle came out on top, 5 to 4. Former Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin made an awesome save on Alvaro Fernandez, and fellow former Rapids defender Drew Moor converted his first ever MLS penalty shot low and to the right. But misses by Michael Bradley and a doink off the crossbar for Justin Morrow set up burly Panamanian center back Roman Torres, who coolly knocked in the winner to give the rave green Sounders the 2016 title.
Here are some of the best reactions from around MLS and Rapids twitter.

Seattle's three total shots are the fewest in an MLS Cup (record was 6).

I honestly think that's the greatest save in #MLSCup history. Can't think of a better one off the top of my head.

Coach Brian Schmetzer was happy, and he seems like a nice guy.
Brian Schmetzer just picked up a single beer, looked around at the locker room chaos, and softly said, "Gee whiz." #MLSCup

...And someone may have thrown Canadian delicacies on the field.
Someone actually threw poutine on the field?

Overall, feelings on the game from neutrals were... negative.

But most importantly, there was shade. Beautiful, beautiful shade.
Congratulations, Seattle. However, after forcing us to watch those first 120 minutes, you can't criticize others' style of play for awhile.

There were some good trophy takes. Attn: Don Garber.
You'd think the MLS owners would suggest the trophy be presented to the players first. Uncool to do anything otherwise.
— Grant Wahl (@GrantWahl) December 11, 2016

Said this before, but the symbolism of the commissioner giving the trophy to the owners rather than the players is all wrong. #MLSCup

And finally, my two cents.
This looks like two teams that have never won #MLSCup cluelessly trying to win MLS Cup. #TORvSEA
