Leg two of the conference semi-finals between the Colorado Rapids and Los Angeles Galaxy was very similar to all the other matches they had played this year. But in the end the Rapids were able to tie the series and win in penalty kicks.
The wonder goal by Shkelzen Gashi put the Rapids up 1-0 and the defense for the Rapids was quite stout. It only gave up one shot on target for the Galaxy, and that was a weak shot from distance by Robbie Keane. If you have not seen Gashi’s shot, then you need to find it on the MLS site and take a look.
After the 90 minutes of the match and 30 minutes of extra time, the teams were still tied on aggregate. Penalties it was. Kevin Doyle, Sebastien Le Toux and Marco Pappa converted their penalties. Steven Gerrard converted his penalty, but Giovani dos Santos missed his and Tim Howard saved Ashley Cole’s and Jeff Larentowicz’s attempts to advance the Rapid to the Conference finals.
