What an up-and-down-and-up day. The Colorado Rapids came into the day needed a win and an FC Dallas loss. It started out promising with a lot of opportunities for the Rapids against the Houston Dynamo. But the Dynamo were able to get a goal against the run of play.

This goal killed some of the atmosphere in the sold-out Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. But the opportunities kept coming and soon after Marlon Hairston came on in the 61’, the Rapids would equalize on the Hairston cross and Shkelzen Gashi finish to tie the score at 1-1.

Despite opportunities for both teams, and some good ones for the Rapids, the score did not change and finished knotted at 1. It did not matter in the end because FC Dallas and the Los Angeles Galaxy played a lackluster match that finished 0-0.

As the final whistle blew, many of the Rapids players just collapsed on the pitch. They had given their all. They had an uphill climb today and just could not get to the top of the supporters shield.
