The final game in-hand with FC Dallas was played and the Colorado Rapids took advantage of having the game in the pocket. The Rapids beat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1.

It was a rather tepid first half until Marc Burch's cross found Kevin Doyle coming in front of the net and it was headed past David Bingham. The Rapids looked to score shortly thereafter but the referee ruled the ball did not fully cross the goal line.

The second half saw two controversial penalty kicks awarded, one to the Earthquakes and one to the Rapids. Neither looked like a foul to me. Each team converted from the spot to finish the scoring.

The sliding challenge on Sebastien Le Toux in the box after the Rapids took the lead was more of a foul than the other two calls.
