The Rapids have been been rumored to be involved in the attempt to acquire five players:
- Tim Howard, Everton
- Carlos Vela, Real Sociedad
- Alan Pulido, Oympiacos
- Felipe dal Belo, Udinese
- Alejandro Bedoya, FC Nantes
Anything new in the international press on them?
Everton Manager Roberto Martinez responded to reports that the 36 year old keeper was on the move.
"It's news to me," Martínez said. "We've had no approach from MLS and Tim has still got another two years on his contract with us."
Everton take on Swansea on Sunday.
No new rumors have surfaced in a while about Carlos Vela, who was the lone scorer for Real Sociedad as they were thumped 5-1 by Gijon in La Liga action.
Alan Pulido scored the only goal as well, as Olympiacos beat Xanthi, 1-0. Olympiacos' management said after the win
"I spoke to Alan Pulido, and I found that really is ready to be part of this team, I'm very happy with its performance both in training games, and hopefully follow the same line."
After being firmly parked on the bench for Olympiacos all season, this is Pulido's second start this week. So either the club is making last ditch effort to inflate his value... or they actually need him.
Felipe has played the last four matches on the back line for Udinese. Last week defender Danilo drew an early red, and Udinese were thumped 4-0 by Italian juggernaut Juventus. Udinese take on Palermo on Sunday. Udinese sit 13th, while their Sicilian opponents sit just one spot out of the relegation zone.
Alejandro Bedoya scored in his second straight match as FC Nantes managed a draw against Bordeaux in Ligue 1 action. Again, current transfer rumors about Bedoya are non-existent.
Kind of remarkable that Vela, Pulido and Bedoya would all score in the week after the Rapids had been involved in rumors to acquire them. More remarkable would be if the Colorado Rapids could actually wrap up a DP before the European transfer season peters out in another week.
