Rapids Conclude Draft Day Trade and Pick Up Zach Pfeffer

The player to be named later is none other than Zach Pfeffer.

The Colorado Rapids concluded their draft day trade with Philadelphia Union today with the announcement that they had picked up Zach Pfeffer.

From Paul Bravo, Vice President of Soccer Operations and Technical Director:

Zach is a talented young player who has been a professional since 2011.  He is the same age as a lot of these players at the SuperDraft and, had he been involved this year, he would have been a top pick. So we felt that his experience and his versatility, as well as the allocation money, were too much of an opportunity for us to pass up.

The Rapids are the subject of a number of rumors right now with a variety of players and that takes away from this acquisition.  Pfeffer is a very talented player who can play all over the midfield and will bring quality and pace to the Rapids.  He played 21 times for a struggling Union team and picked up two goals and at just 21 years of age, he has years ahead of him.  And going younger is in contrast to the perceived "Pablo way" of doing things.
