#OneClub Report: An Undefeated Week

The Rapids went 2-0-0 this week with the Independence adding an impressive 1-0-1 week to their current run of form

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

A pretty fantastic week for the #OneClub as both the Colorado Rapids and Charlotte Independence came through with zeros in the loss column.  The Rapids were able to win 2-1 on Wednesday night vs Houston Dynamo and shocked Major League Soccer with a 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night.  As for the Independence they grabbed their first road win on Wednesday in Montreal and then followed that up with a 2-2 tie against Toronto FC II.

Here is the #OneClub Report:

1)  That MLS Table: I have always have been and always will be a massive proponent of a single table.  I don't really care all that much about promotion and relegation (it will never happen in MLS), but the single table I love.  Right now every team in the Western Conference has more points then the sixth and final playoff team in the East.  Obviously this would not help the Rapids as they are still in 9th in the West.  But in a league were 12 teams make the playoffs, the Rapids would be in 14th....just four points from the 12th and final berth.

2)  That USL Table: An Eastern Conference playoff spot is there for the taking for Charlotte.  They are two points from it with a game in hand and are currently riding a nine game unbeaten run (4-0-5).  They have two games this week and should be seeking maximum points from both.

3)  Playoff Possible: Both teams have a shot at making the playoffs, although the Rapids have a far tougher road.  They have 8 games left:

Home:  vs D.C. United, Real Salt Lake, Montreal Impact

Road:  at Vancouver Whitecaps, Portland Timbers, Sporting Kansas City, Houston Dynamo, Toronto FC

Not exactly an easy slate.  I still maintain they need at least five wins out of that.  We shall see.

The Independence have an easier time of it with just one game against a team that is currently above them in the table.  And they get last place Wilmington Hammerheads FC twice in three days this week:

Home:  vs Wilmington Hammerheads FC, Toronto FC II

Road: at Wilmington Hammerheads FC, Charleston Battery, Saint Louis FC.

Charlotte's regular season wraps on on the 19th, so they have five games in 19 days.  Yikes.

Can one or both of the teams in the #OneClub make the playoffs?   The Rapids appear to have the more difficult time and we will know more about the chances in Charlotte after this Saturday.
