WARNING: This Colorado Rapids recap is full of snark, sarcasm, and all other things not green.
Yep. How does that feel Rapids haters. In their last nine games the Rapids have these fun stats:
18 points secured
Six Wins
Yep. 6W and 3L.
Not too shabby.
So yeah, haters gonna hate with their misguided hatred of KSE. But the Rapids have seemed to find the formula that has led to wins in 6 of their last 9 matches. If you are keeping score. That is GOOD.
On a stunningly beautiful night in Commerce City the Rapids were able to put their most complete performance of the year together in a 2-1 win over a terrific Sporting Kansas City team. Now, the haters are going to try and make some sort of lame excuse but the bottom line is this: the Rapids beat a solid Sporting team.
The Rapids were led by goals from Maynor Figueroa and Kevin Doyle (with another game winner) that saw the Rapids climb out of the Western Conference cellar and within five points of playoff position. Now, are the Rapids going to make the playoffs after this game? It still seems like a road too far, but they showed tonight that they are willing and able to stay and hang with the Western Conference elite (and it turn the MLS elite).
The Rapids are off until September 9 so it should give the team a chance to get healthy and get ready for the final 8 games of the regular season.
