Colorado Rapids at Chicago Fire--Man of the Match Voting

The Burgundy Boys picked up their sixth win of the year last night. Who was your Man of the Match?

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rapids scored an impressive 1-0 road victory over Chicago Fire on Saturday night that brought the Rapids record to 6-9-9 on the year but still left them mired in last place in the Western Conference.

For the Rapids this was truly a massive victory.  They had not won since July 18 and their last three matches they looked very, very poor.  They played defensive formations that seemed more intent on preventing the opposition from scoring rather than actually trying to win games.  But tonight, Rapids Gaffer Pablo Mastroeni actually set a lineup that was full of attacking intent and it paid dividends very quickly as Dillon Serna scored in the first minute from a Gabriel Torres pass.

It has been such a long time since the Rapids had looked positive in attack that I had forgotten what this felt like.  It felt good.  Winning feels good.  This formation felt right.  Let's hope it continues going into two home matches this week.

Aside from the goal it was a stout defensive effort by Colorado and the back four of Drew Moor, Sean St. Ledger, Bobby Burling and Maynor Figueroa along with Clint Irwin.  Was it the prettiest display of soccer?  Hell no.  But it was effective and the Rapids got what they needed:  All Three Points.

So who was your Rapids Man of the Match?  Hit us up and let us know!
