San Jose Earthquakes vs Colorado Rapids - Game Preview

The Colorado Rapids will look to get back to winning ways in Northern California as the struggling Rocky Mountain side will travel to San Jose for the first time this season. Both teams currently find themselves at the foot of the Western Conference and playoff hopes are also fading quickly. Rapids head coach Pablo Mastroeni will be desperate to get a win on the road on Friday night.

Colorado (5-8-9, 24 pts) are coming off a disappointing 2-1 loss to Columbus Crew on the weekend. The Rapids scored first courtesy of a Bobby Burling goal, only to be put to the sword by a Kei Kamara brace in the second half. The loss was the second in a row for Colorado at home after LA Galaxy scored 3 second-half goals the previous week at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

San Jose (7-10-5) are coming off a 2-1 loss at Houston on Saturday evening. Fatai Alashe was shown a red card in the 60th minute after a second bookable offense. San Jose were able to score while a man down, but they couldn't stop Alex from scoring his first goal with Houston as the Dynamo are making a run to finish in the top 6 in the Western Conference.

The Colorado Rapids sold defender Shane O'Neill to Cypriot First Division side Apollan Limassol last week. The homegrown defender was one of the most promising players in the side but was unable to crack the starting eleven throughout the season.
