When the Colorado Rapids and Vancouver Whitecaps take the pitch tonight in Commerce City both clubs will be looking at reversing trends at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The Caps have a 1-5-0 all time record at Dick's Sporting Goods Park and the Rapids are just 1-3-4 at home this season. Something has to give and for the Rapids, they are the clear underdog in this one.
The Goal for the Rapids: Win. Nothing else matters.
What to Watch For
1) Formation: I talk about this every week but the Rapids need to get away from the 4-2-3-1 in a bad way. It is obvious that it is not working and by running a formation that allows for two strikers would get both Luis Solignac and Kevin Doyle on the pitch at the same time.
2) A Packed House: The Rapids usually have their best crowd of the year and it is great opportunity to use that energy to drive home a victory for the Burgundy Boys. The home form has been extremely bad this year and for the Rapids to have any hope at all of turning this season around, it has to start tonight. Perhaps a sold out crowd will do that.
3) Goals: The Rapids have scored 8 goals in their last 12 matches. The Lads have to find a way to score as that is a level of futility not normally seen in teams that are considered winning clubs in MLS.

Predicted Starting XI
I am going to hope that Pablo Mastroeni actually changes his non-working tactics and formations for something that more resembles a soccer team that is trying to win games and as such I am going to say he goes with a 4-4-2 and uses this lineup:
