MLS Viewing Guide, Week 19

Week 19 is here and so is the second leg of the Rocky Mountain Cup.

Isaiah Downing-USA TODAY Sports

It is Rocky Mountain Cup week for the Rapids and RSL as they meet for the second of three meetings in 2015--this time in Commerce City.  The Rapids are coming off a much needed victory over Vancouver last week while RSL had to settle for a share of the points with OCSC.

Along with the RMC, there are a number of good matches this week including a great matchup to close the weekend--Sporting at Vancouver.

Here is your MLS Viewing Guide for Week 19:

Off This Week: D.C. United and LA Galaxy

Friday, July 10

San Jose Earthquakes vs Houston Dynamo--Avaya Stadium--9:00 PM MDT (UniMas)

A battle of two teams on the outside of the playoff picture, this should prove to be a defensive affair.  Both the Dynamo and Quakes are missing people due to Gold Cup commitments, so this one could be a bit rough to watch.  Calling this a draw in San Jose.

Saturday, July 11

Philadelphia Union vs Portland Timbers--PPL Park--5:00 PM MDT (MLS Live)

The Timbers have won 6 of their last 7 matches and will be entering PPL Park with all sorts of confidence whereas the Union are on a modest two match unbeaten run.  I actually think that Philadelphia will get their stuff together and pull off the win.

New York Red Bulls vs New England Revolution--Red Bull Arena--5:00 PM MDT (MLS Live)

Man alive the Revs are full on in their midseason nosedive having lost four in a row.  Having to go on the road in New Jersey against the Metros will be a task to difficult and will drop their fifth in a row.

Orlando City vs FC Dallas--The Citrus Bowl--5:30 PM MDT (MLS Live)

It is tough to figure either of these teams out, and I think this match will be better then many will give it credit for.  The Hoops are missing people but this is a game that an Oscar Pareja coached team gets a result in.  This ends in a tie.

Montreal Impact vs Columbus Crew SC--Stade Saputo--6:00 PM MDT (MLS Live)

Columbus is unbeaten in four and the Impact are winless in three.  Regardless, I think the Impact figure it all out and get a victory in this match.

Chicago Fire vs Seattle Sounders--Toyota Park--6:30 PM MDT (MLS Live)

Chicago is terrible.  Seattle is not.  Seattle piles on more misery for the Fire and gets a win on the road.

Colorado Rapids vs Real Salt Lake--Dick's Sporting Goods Park--7:00 PM MDT (Altitude)

I had predicted this to be a 0-0 draw when I previewed July but I also predicted the Rapids would lose to the Caps.  I really want to change my mind, but the minute that I do will be when RSL wins.  That being said, this is a critical match for the Rapids.  Not so much for the playoffs, but for overall confidence in the squad and for the supporters.

Sunday, July 12

New York City FC vs Toronto FC--Yankee Stadium--1:00 PM MDT (ESPN)

NYCFC will win this one at home but it will be a close and tense affair.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs Sporting Kansas City--BC Place--7:00 PM MDT (MLS Live)

Best game of the weekend hands down.  Sporting is on a nice run of form and the Caps are finally home after 5 matches.  Vancouver will bring their best and will also get the win in this one.
