How To Watch: Charlotte Independence vs Richmond Kickers

The third game in four at home for Charlotte features a visit from Richmond

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

The Charlotte Independence are at home again this Friday night as they take on second place Richmond Kickers in an important Eastern Conference USL clash.  For the Independence, this is their third match of four at home and they have capitalized on this by winning their last three on the trot, two of them at home.  Richmond is one of the class teams in USL with just two losses to their credit.

The Goal for the Independence:  take all three at home.

The Eastern Conference Table:

What To Watch For:

1)  Keeping it Rolling: Charlotte is on a very nice run right now and have not lost since May 16.  Since that point they are 3-0-1 in USL play and also have three US Open Cup wins.  Not too shabby for the new boys from Charlotte.

2)  Colorado Rapids Loanees: Caleb Calvert, John Berner, Ben Newnam and Carlos Alvarez are all on loan with Charlotte right now and while we know Berner is out with injury, Newnam and Alvarez have featured prominently of late.  I am very high on Calvert and would like to see him get more time, but the reality is that Charlotte has it going on and they need to ride the hot hand.

3)  Ramblewood Issues? It seems that the Independence are having a spot of trouble with the city right now with their new home:
