So You Want Pablo Fired? A Twitterpated View

New, 6 comments

The Twitters were all, um, twitterpated, with Pablo hate last night.

No one said that being a Colorado Rapids fan would be easy.  Goodness gracious is it difficult.  Especially right now as the Rapids are truly mired in one of the worst, if not worst, runs of form in the last year.  2-17-11 since July 25.  It is just horrible and Rapids fans, as only they can, took to the twitters to share their disgust:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Ask yourself: with this roster, does this <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Rapids96?src=hash">#Rapids96</a> have any business being as bad as their record indicates? Absolutely humiliating.</p>&mdash; The Rapids Apologist (@thelosthooligan) <a href="https://twitter.com/thelosthooligan/status/613886257244979200">June 25, 2015</a></blockquote>

OK, so you want Pablo fired?  Cool.  Who do you replace him with?

Do you want a coach with strong MLS ties?

Do you want a coach that maybe has nothing to do with MLS, but has strong ties in developing talent?

Do you want a brand new coach with no experience again?

I want to hear from you, but here are my thoughts if, and only if, Pablo Mastroeni is sacked:

1)  Do you want a coach with strong MLS ties: Yes, absolutely.  Major League Soccer is a brutal place to coach in and only one coach that with zero MLS ties has won a cup.  That'd be Gary Smith, current coach of Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL.  If you are looking for a coach, the first thing I would want would be a guy that has experience in this league, preferably at the coaching level.  Possibilities:  John Spencer, Mike Petke (NO WAY), Robin Fraser.

2)  Do you want a coach that maybe has nothing to do with MLS, but has strong ties in developing talent? Sure, but this is no guarantee that the person would be successful.  And keep in mind that coaching in the United States pays less, so you have to ensure that the guy you are getting is aware of this and how completely and utterly different roster rules are here.   My dream wish list:  Sam Allardyce, Sean Dyche and Jurgen Klopp.

3)  Do you want a brand new coach with no experience again? Rapids fans are going crazy that Claudio Lopez should be the new gaffer.  Why?  What experience does he have as a coach?  And will be be better than Pablo?   What evidence is there (and please don't say two games, cause that is a load of crap) that he would be successful?  A zero experience coach is not what this team needs.

So please, share your thoughts on this.  If Pablo were fired, who would you want?  Dream big!  But be realistic.  Hit us up in the comments and I will share the best ones in the coming days!
