The Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas take the pitch for the third and final time in Major League Soccer play tonight and for both teams a victory would be massive to get things back on the right track. Although the Hoops and the Burgundy Boys claimed victories this week in the US Open Cup, they are both struggling in MLS play.
For the Rapids, the goal is simple: win. Nothing else matters.
What to Watch For:
1) The Rapids: Our Boys are not in a good run of form and have not claimed all three points since May 23 and have gone 0-2-1 since. And in those three games the Rapids have played disappointing and uninspiring football. I don't care what the statistics say, the Rapids have been second best in those matches. If they have any hope in this MLS season, they absolutely MUST win this one against FC Dallas.
2) The Hoops: For as rough as the run has been for the Rapids, it has been much worse for Dallas. They have not won since May 9 and their current run since that point is 0-3-2. The Hoops have scored once in that span and have been shut out four times and a goal differential of -8. To right this ship, Dallas MUST win this match against the Rapids.
3) So something has to give, right? You would have to think so. As I have said, this is must win for both clubs (although both clubs will not say that). Ultimately, I expect a match where both teams are going to go for it to get the result.
4) Slow Start! Not this Time (pretty please with sugar on top): The Rapids have started terrible in the last three games and this absolutely has to end if they want any shot of winning this one.
