The Colorado Rapids will play host to FC Dallas for the final time in the regular season on Friday night. The Rapids are unbeaten against FC Dallas this season with both games taking place in April. Colorado won for the first time in the league over the Hoops on April 10th and then recorded a 1-1 home draw on April 24th.
Colorado (2-4-8, 14 points) are on a poor run of form with only one victory in their last nine league matches. However, the Rapids earned a midweek boost after defeating the Colorado Springs Switchbacks 4-1 in the US Open Cup. First half goals from Dominique Badji and Joseph Greenspan saw the Rapids take a 2-0 lead at halftime. A second half brace from Dillon Serna wrapped up the win while Jordan Burt did manage to find the scoresheet for the Switchbacks.
FC Dallas (6-5-4, 22 points) are currently in 5th place in the Western Conference. The Dallas club made easy work of Oklahoma City Energy on Tuesday evening. David Texeira and Michael Barrios each scored two apiece as the Hoops cruised to the 5th Round of the US Open Cup.
If the Rapids are to have any hope of making the playoffs in 2015, the team will have to start scoring goals, and fast. While the defense has been solid, the Rapids have only scored 11 goals in 14 matches this season with a minus 1 goal differential. New signings Luis Solignac and Kevin Doyle have been eased into the team, with both forwards still in search of their first MLS goal.
