Cup Football! Does it get any better?

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Well, I guess "technically" it is called the MLS Cup so I "guess" that is Cup football as well, but you get the point.  The U.S. Open Cup is truly one of the more exciting things that happen during the Major League Soccer season.  And if you remember the 2014 edition, the Colorado Rapids had two home games that season, defeating Orlando City 5-3 and losing a absolutely farcical match to Atlanta Silverbacks.

Tonight the Rapids take on Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the Fourth Round Proper of the Cup and for the Rapids, there is a lot riding on this one.

The Goal:  win and advance to the Fifth Round

What to Watch For:

1)  Going All Out: The Rapids have looked, in a word, poor over the last four matches.  No need to beat around the bush on it, they have looked bad.  But they have a chance in this one to grab a victory and prepare to make a run in the cup as they are playing an opponent two divisions down and the Rapids should have the quality to take this one.

2)  The Lineup: The Cup is a chance to play some guys who have not seen much time and I truly hope this is the case.  The Rapids have a MLS match on Friday and while that should be the focus, the Rapids need to put a strong lineup out there that is going to be able to beat the Switchbacks.

3)  Pablo is Out: Don't forget that Pablo is suspended for getting red carded in his last US Open Cup match and will not be with the club for this match.

Injuries/Suspensions:

Injuries:  Colorado--OUT:  Axel Sjoberg.  LISTED ON REPORT:  Vicente Sanchez.

Suspensions:  Colorado--Pablo Mastroeni (Red Card last season against Atlanta)
