A couple of hours before the Colorado Rapids match kicked off against San Jose Earthquakes, it was announced that Carlos Alvarez was loaned to Charlotte Independence:

For Alvarez, this is a terrific move as it will allow him to gather valuable playing time.  And with the play of Juan Ramirez and Dillon Powers in the middle, there was little chance that Alvarez was going to see a whole lot of time this year.

For the Independence they gain a versatile and speedy midfielder who can in the midfield and up front if needed and has a couple of seasons of MLS experience under his belt.

Alvarez joins John Berner, Marlon Hairston, Caleb Calvert and Charles Eloundou who are either in Charlotte now or have spent time there.
