We all remember the opening game of last season against the Portland Timbers when the temperature dropped to 15 degrees with some pretty consistent snow. It's all part of the Colorado Rapids experience.
Tonight, the Rapids will play the San Jose Earthquakes (who played in some bad rain last year, I remember). I'm always interested in the workings of our Rapids fans. When you hear a forecast like the one for tonight, or when you hear that snow is on the horizon, or any other nasty weather predictions, at what point do you say, "Um, I love my Rapids, but I'm out on this one."
Interestingly enough, it was at the beginning of last year at the opening match, with the snow, with the cold--I knew I was hooked. I just had to come see the Rapids play--if for nothing else but to see how Jamaicans Deshorn Brown and Donovan Ricketts would survive. Cool runnings, indeed!
I'll go ahead and give my answer. I'll be there. I have a harder time with at 8:00 pm Friday night game than I will with the weather (amazing how being 43 years old changes your view of late games).
Which reminds me, I'm going to put out an article soon on how well these Friday night games are doing ratings and attendance wise for MLS. I have a funny feeling that it could be better.
Let me know where your line is. What type of weather would have to occur for you to say, "I'm out! No DSGP for me tonight!"
