Revenge is a dish best served cold......or on a soccer pitch.
And for the Charlotte Independence they have a chance to avenge a 3-0 loss to Richmond Kickers suffered on April 18 in Richmond. If you remember that match, the Independence put a number of shots on goal and could not find a goal. Since that time the Independence have gone on a modest 1-0-1 run and they have a great opportunity to move further on up the Eastern Conference USL Table:
|Louisville City FC||9||6||2||1||3|
|New York Red Bulls II||8||7||2||3||2|
|Harrisburg City Islanders||7||5||2||2||1|
|Saint Louis FC||7||5||2||2||1|
|Wilmington Hammerheads FC||5||6||1||3||2|
What To Watch For:
1) John Berner: the young Colorado Rapids loanee has been on fire in the nets for Charlotte and was named USL Player of the week last week for his 6 save effort in guiding the team to its first victory. Berner is looking more and more comfortable in net for the Independence and getting the games he is getting is only making him a stronger keeper.
2) Richmond is Good: Bottom line for the Independence...this is going to be a tough ask for them. Richmond has not lost yet and they boast an attack that is tied for second in goals scored in the USL Eastern Conference. The Kickers have not dropped a game yet and will prove to be the ultimate test for Charlotte.
3) A Home Game....Sort Of: Yes, this is listed as a home match but it is not being played in Charlotte. The match is taking place about 25 miles south in Rock Hill, South Carolina. This will make for an interesting atmosphere for the Independence as they look to get their second win in a row.
