The Colorado Rapids will return to Dick's Sporting Goods Park looking for their first win at home since June of 2014. The Rocky Mountain club were not able to play their match on the weekend as severe thunderstorms in the Kansas City area forced the match to be postponed. The make up game will be in October.
Colorado (1-2-7) will be looking to claim three points at home against a Vancouver side that has been impressive in 2015. The Whitecaps currently find themselves in 2nd place in the Western Conference and have been pretty consistent over the first couple of months of the campaign.
The Rapids will have to contain Darren Mattocks and Octavio Rivero, both of whom have enjoyed great starts to 2015. Vancouver (6-4-2) are coming off a 2-0 loss to rivals Seattle Sounders on the weekend at the BC Place. Chad Barrett put the Whitecaps to the sword as the Sounders were able to claim three points without star forward Obafemi Martins. Despite the loss, Vancouver have enjoyed a solid start to the 2015 season.
The Rapids will be boosted by the arrival of Ireland international Kevin Doyle, who was presented to fans and media this past Monday at the Celtic Tavern. Also, new signing Argentine forward Luis Solignac was also supposed to start against Kansas City, but harsh weather conditions in Kansas City kept Solignac from making his Rapids debut. Meanwhile, Doyle should be available for selection on Saturday evening.
