Game Recap: Colorado Rapids at LA Galaxy

The Rapids and Galaxy met for the first time in 2015 in Carson and aside from a few bright moments, it was not the most exciting 90 minutes of soccer.

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rapids and LA Galaxy played on Saturday night to a 1-1 draw in Carson, California.  The Rapids were led by the fourth Gabriel Torres goal of the year and that goal held up until Alan Gordon equalized in the second half.  For a team that is on a monster road trip, the Rapids are probably pretty happy with a draw, but this was a winnable game for the club and have to feel disappointed.

My thoughts on the match:

First, the Starting XI:

Clint Irwin, Michael Harrington, Axel Sjoberg, Shane O'Neill, James Riley, Lucas Pittinari, Sam Cronin, Juan Ramirez, Dillon Powers, Nick LaBrocca, Gabriel Torres

1) The Torres Show: Torres picked up another goal against the Galaxy and as I have said before he looks like a new man.  His goal was a fantastic finish and if that finish was there last game by other Rapids players, they would have picked up three points in New York.  Torres is a sure fire starter going forward.

2) But That Defensive Marking: You know what Gordon does.  You know what he is about.  How do you leave him that wide open?  It was a difficult blow to accept and to see him put another dagger into the Rapids is a bitter pill to swallow.

3) I know They Are Tired, But Come On Now: The Rapids should have beaten the Galaxy tonight.  They were the better team for large stretches of the match but a moment of poor play condemned the Rapids to another draw.

After this match, the Rapids record goes to 1-2-6 on the year and leaves them in tenth place in the Western Conference Table.   The Rapids next take the pitch on Friday night against San Jose Earthquakes at Dick's Sporting Goods Park at 8PM.
