A great year for hosting big soccer events in Colorado got a bit bigger with word that DSGP will be a host city for the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament this October.

US Soccer announced today the Dick's Sporting Goods Park would be one of the host cities for the 2015 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying tournament.  The Colorado Rapids home pitch will be joined by the Stubhub Center in Carson, California, Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas and Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah to host qualifying matches this October.

The Qualifying tournament will feature 8 teams (split into two groups) in a round robin format.  The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semifinals with the two finalists automatically qualifying for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.  The third place team will play Columbia for a chance to become the third CONCACAF team to make the tournament.

As for DSGP, they will host matches on October 6 and 7 featuring all eight teams in tournament.  This will certainly mean the chance to see Dillon Serna and Shane O'Neill (assuming they are selected) play as they make their claim to be on the 2016 team.
