Ode to the Incurable Rapids Fan

It's not Hemingway, and it won't win me the Poet Laureate. So be it. It's out there--an Ode to the Incurable Rapids Fan.

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

There once was a fan who went to a game--
A game where there came down a pouring rain--
But there he sat, and he'd do it again.
Such is the incurable Colorado Rapids fan.

We stick with our team, through thick and through thin,
Although all of this thin I would trade for a win.
But there I go and sit and cheer and kick in.
Such is the incurable Rapids fan.

The pain that we feel as a Rapids contingent
Is part of the plight of the Burgundy remnant
And yet here we come to cheer and lament.
Such is the incurable Rapids fan.

Yes, ev'ry pass, ev'ry cross, ev'ry save,
Ev'ry goal we scored and those we gave
We live and we die, critique and we rave.
Such is the incurable Rapids fan.

On Hinchey, on Pablo, on Bravo, and Moor.
On Torres, on Doyle, on Luis--please score!
You're knocking and knocking--kick down that door!
Such is the pleading of this Rapids fan.

So there I will be when they turn it around,
So there I will be when they're playoff bound.
So there I will be when they win the crown.
Such is the incurable Rapids fan.
