Game Recap: Colorado Rapids 0:2 New England Revolution

The Rapids stretched their winless run to 18 games in a 2-0 loss to the Revs

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

How to sum the Colorado Rapids v New England Revolution match in one word:

The Rapids had plenty of chances in this match to score and hit the post in comical numbers but could not find a goal in a a match that dropped the Rapids to 0-1-3 on the year and 0-13-5 in their last 18.

My thoughts:

1) The Rapids Could Not Hit Water If Standing In A Boat: The Rapids hit the post at least three times and their finishing was an absolute disaster.  It is so bad now it is comical.  The Rapids had chance after chance and could not find a goal.

2)  The Ref Was Not The Issue: I know there are supporters who will want to blame the ref.  Yes, the ref screwed up the PK for the Rapids in the second half, but that is not why they loss this match.  The Rapids dropped this result because they were second best on the evening.

3)  Pablo is Not At Fault, But..... It is becoming increasingly clear that Pablo Mastroeni is out of his element as a coach and his lack of tactical acumen is hurting the club.  But, he is not at fault for the crappy finishing that the Rapids are displaying and the players he is putting out there are not as bad as it seems.  But, this season is winding out of control and if Pablo does not fix it soon, this season will be another waste in Commerce City.

The Rapids return to action next Friday in Frisco to play FC Dallas at 5PM MDT.
