The Colorado Rapids will look to get back to winning ways as the club will face FC Dallas on Friday evening at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Just a couple of weeks ago, the Rapids won over FC Dallas in Frisco, Texas, as four different Rapids players found the scoresheet in a 4-0 rout over the Dallas-based club.
Colorado (1-2-3, 6 points) were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on the weekend. Lamar Neagle had a brace while Obafemi Martins put the game beyond reach in the 2nd half despite the Rapids outshooting Seattle. Gaby Torres scored the lone goal for the Rapids in the first half.
FC Dallas (4-2-1, 13 points) returned to winning ways after dispatching of Toronto FC 3-2 at a stormy Toyota Stadium on the weekend. FC Dallas did lead 3-0 before a brutal thunderstorm caused a weather delay that lasted upwards of three hours. Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja had to endure a nervy ending, but the Hoops were able to claim three points over Toronto FC.
If the Rapids are to get three points on Friday night, they'll have to make due without Marcelo Sarvas, who was given a 2-game suspension on Thursday by the Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee. Sarvas was punished retroactively for stomping on Seattle forward Clint Dempsey during the match. Seattle's Chad Marshall was also suspended for one game following a hard foul on Vicente Sanchez.
