Marlon Hairston Loaned To Charlotte

The second year midfielder was sent to Charlotte as the Rapids and Independence continue to build their relationship and strengthen rosters.

The Colorado Rapids announced today that Marlon Hairston was loaned to Charlotte Independence in a move that should increase playing time for the young midfielder:

This move is not unexpected.  I had speculated last month that Hairston could be sent to Charlotte in the hopes of continuing his development and now that it is happening it makes perfect sense.  He is listed as a midfielder and when you look at the depth chart, there is little hope that he was going to get time.  With the likes of Dillon Powers, Dillon Serna, Marcelo Sarvas, Lucas Pittinari, Carlos Alvarez, Sam Cronin and Juan Ramirez in front of him, playing time was going to be scant at best.  A full season in Charlotte only will benefit Hairston and I am excited for this move for him and the Independence.

What do you think Rapids fans?  Do you like this move?  Let us know in the comments below!
